Trail Conditions

Rating

March 10, 2010 At this time our trails are CLOSED for the season. We want to THANK our landowners for allowing us to maintain a Vast Trail on their property, without them the sport would not exist(ThankYou) TRAILS CLOSED
March 2, 2010 Due to the rain and warm weather our trails once again are down to bare ground and unsuitable for riding or grooming. We can't get out of the Orleans area with our grooming due to no snow. The high elevations still have riding but the valleys are bare. The warm temps and sunshine for the weekend, the conditions will not change so I will not update this report again unless we get much needed snow. Please RESPECT our landowners by staying off the trails until significant amount of snow so we can KEEP these TRAILS(thank you)

RIDING

NOT RECOMMENDED

IN THE VALLEYS

February 25, 2010 We received 6 to 8 inches of very wet snow in the valleys and more in the higher elevations. We did get out and panned all of our trails yesterday. Today thru Friday temps will be 37 to 42 during the day and forecasting rain in the afternoon then changing back to snow with windy conditions which will make a very sloppy mess. Saturday and Sunday is calling for a mixture of rain and snow showers.

VERY QUESTIONABLE

DUE TO THE

WEATHER CONDITIONS

February 18, 2010 We still have not received any snow and the trails at this time in our area are not rideable due to bare ground and very very low snow coverage. There is riding in the high elevations of Island Pond, Norton, Canaan and Jay over Richford mountain to Montgomery. Please RESPECT our Landowners by not using the trails until we receive more snow (thank you). I will update this again on next Thursday if conditions change I will update sooner.

NOT RIDEABLE

IN OUR AREA

February 11, 2010 There is no change from last report as far as snow coverage. We are receiving just chances for snow showers through Wednesday of next week with temps in the mid 20's during the day. The open fields are rough due to bare ground still otherwise rideable with caution. The good riding is in the high elevations. I will update this report only once a week which will be on Thursday unless the conditions change as far as snow accumulation. Please use caution, be alert, pay attention , slow down and live if you do decide to ride.

FAIR in low valleys

GOOD in high elevations

February 5, 2010 We received around 4-6 inches of new snow enough to start grooming our trails again. The fields are still bare and rough otherwise the trail conditions are decent enough to ride, if you don't mind riding on bare ground in the open fields. Please USE EXTREME CAUTION if you decide to ride. The high elevations have good riding conditions. FAIR
February 2, 2010 Riding is still not recommended on our trails. There is riding in the higher elevations in Jay, Norton and Island Pond areas but in the lower elevations there is very low snow coverage with bare ground and icy areas. The forecast is calling for just a dusting to three inches. Please use EXTREME CAUTION and SLOW DOWN and PAY ATTENTION(Thank You) Life is very precious!!!

RIDING

NOT RECOMMENDED

January 28, 2010 We did received the heavy rain and our trails are very icy with bare ground areas. We have very low snow coverage. Today we will get snow showers and some snow squalls possible 1-3 inches accumulation. Friday and Saturday will be blustery cold with temps in the mid teens to single digits during the day. Riding is not recommended at this time because of the trail conditions. If you do decide to ride PLEASE USE VERY EXTREME CAUTION and USE COMMON SENSE!!

RIDING

NOT RECOMMENDED

January 25, 2010 Our groomer has been broke down since Wednesday of last week it is being torn down as i speak don't know what is wrong yet. The temperature is around 40 degrees with windy and occasional heavy rain today then changing back to just snow showers also mild temps for Tuesday. This will put our trails in very bad shape for we were in need for SNOW accumulation. This will put alot of the trails with conditions with more bare ground and open water areas. I will update this report again on Thursday after all the rain is done.

Very Early Spring

USE CAUTION

January 19, 2010 We are shutting down our groomer operations due to mild warm temperatures during the day and no new snow accumulation only snow showers or flurries now & then. The trails are showing some bare ground due to the heavy traffic riding over the weekend, we desperately need SNOW. Riding is poor to fair in the valley and good in the higher elevations.

FAIR TO GOOD

Like Early Spring Riding
